The Red Devils delivered an assured performance, taking the lead 25 minutes in thanks to Bruno Fernandes.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde levelled for Wolves right before half-time, meaning United still had only one clean sheet from their first 15 league fixtures.
However, United emerged for the second half with markedly improved urgency, and Bryan Mbeumo, Mason Mount and Fernandes all found the net in a commanding display.
Despite the emphatic result, several United supporters were dissatisfied with Amorim’s decisions from the bench.
Kobbie Mainoo entered the game with only 12 minutes left and received a loud reception from the travelling fans.
Having pushed for a loan exit in the summer, the midfielder is expected to request another move away from his childhood club in January.
Meanwhile, highly regarded winger Shea Lacey once again stayed among the substitutes for a fourth straight match.
The 18-year-old is still awaiting his first-team appearance, and many felt that the comfortable advantage over Wolves was the perfect opportunity for Amorim to finally introduce him.
One supporter wrote: “Will Amorim give Lacey a chance? 4-1 up with 6 minutes left, and he can’t even give him his debut.
“This isn’t what United is about.”
Another commented: “Results matter at the end of the day, but my frustration with Lacey will continue to go on, and his not getting his debut today, even at 4-1, is very odd.
“Amorim himself said Lacey was ready to play, yet he’s giving him zero integration.
“Mbeumo and Amad will be off to AFCON soon, and he’ll suddenly expect Lacey to be polished with no minutes in his legs.”
Dalot has now posted on Instagram, replying to Lacey’s upload with an egg timer emoji — hinting that the youngster’s chance may be approaching.
Following Thursday night’s draw at home against West Ham United, Amorim was asked about his selection of academy talents such as Mainoo and Lacey.
When the topic shifted specifically to Lacey, he responded:
“So you are asking me why I don’t put Lacey [on] to play, when I have other guys that are internationals who are also on the bench.
“I try to put [on] the best guys, the prepared guys, for this moment of the club, in trying to win the game.
“That’s the only thing.”
Lacey could receive his chance once Mbeumo and Amad depart for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Amorim is still optimistic that both of them, along with Noussair Mazraoui, will be available for next Monday’s Premier League home fixture against AFC Bournemouth.
