His spell at Old Trafford was marked by clashes with Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim, both of whom found it difficult to consistently harness his potential.
Garnacho’s departure from United came after he voiced his displeasure over being benched for the Europa League final and referred to the team’s campaign as “s***.”
Unsurprisingly, he exited the club before the transfer window closed, with Chelsea investing £40million to secure his services. While his impact on the pitch at Stamford Bridge is still developing, his influence off it is already being noticed.
This is especially true for fellow newcomer and compatriot Facundo Buonanotte, who has spoken warmly about Garnacho and fellow Argentine Enzo Fernandez.
Buonanotte, who joined on loan from Brighton during the summer, shared with DSports Radio that Garnacho “is a very good person.”
He said: “I have a very good relationship with him. I already knew him from the national team, but now we share a lot on a daily basis because we are the same age. That makes things nicer.
“He might have had problems at the club, which can happen to any player, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he is a wonderful person. And here at Chelsea, we are very happy to have him.”
This perspective may surprise some, but it sheds light on Garnacho’s personality beyond football. Buonanotte also praised Fernandez for his role in helping both him and Garnacho adjust to their new environment.
He added: “Enzo was the first to write to me when my arrival at the club was confirmed. I was very grateful.
“That tells you what a good person he is. I don’t need to say anything about what he’s like on the pitch, because he’s a wonderful player and everyone can see that, but on top of that, he’s a great person.
“He is always trying to help Garnacho, me, and everyone else. Enzo is a fundamental pillar here. He is our captain. I am very happy to share so many moments with him and learn from him every day.”
Both Buonanotte and Garnacho will have additional time to settle in at Chelsea, having been omitted from Argentina’s squad for the upcoming friendlies against Venezuela and Puerto Rico in the United States, one of the co-hosts for the next World Cup.
Chelsea’s next Premier League fixture is away to Nottingham Forest on October 18.
